Kids Say the Darndest Things!

I've been babysitting a 4 year old for about half a year now, so its almost as though I'm going through this pregnancy with a child of my own to take care of as well. She's as excited about this as if it were going to be her own new sibling. It's really cute! When I first told her that I was pregnant, she immediately rubbed my belly and asked if she could feel the baby move (which of course she couldn't because I was only like 8 weeks at the time). I've had some really cute little discussions with her whenever she asks me a question about the baby. Hopefully I can do these justice, because they really were endearing! Its funny the things a child will think to ask sometimes, too!

Ella: "Sonny, what does your baby eat?"
Me: "Right now, it eats whatever I eat."
Ella: "Well, babies eat milk, so you should drink more milk!"

--I never thought I would have to steer clear of 4 year old pregnancy know-it-alls! haha!--

(When I showed her the ultrasound pictures)
Ella: "Did he move around a lot?"
Me: "Yes, he was dancing all over the place!"
Ella: (Placing her hand on my belly) "Can I feel it!"
Me: "Nope, he's still way too little!"
Ella: "How big is he?"
Me: "About this big." (holding up my fingers to about 1.5 inches)
Ella: "Wow, that's really cute!"

--I probably should just mention that I am only 11 weeks along and have no idea what the gender is yet.. We just call it a boy because its easier.. :^)

(Ella knows one of my good friends, Kelly, who just had a baby, so that has made for some fun conversations as well! This one took place shortly before Kelly had the baby.)
Ella: "Did Kelly have the baby yet?!"
Me: "No, not yet"
Ella: "Oh, she must be bigger and bigger!"
(I then show her some pictures on facebook of Kelly's belly progression)
Ella: "Aww! She looks so cute!"

This kid just cracks me up! Who would have thought that a 4 year old could come up with some of this! I can't wait to see her reaction to when we can start feeling the baby move!

  1. How cute! Well, I keep up with people's blogs better than I do with Facebook, so now I'll hear how you're doing even though I don't get to see you at the Institute regularly anymore. (Eventually, I might start a blog.)
